I am a law student and my husband intends to attend law school in Fall of 2004. He is a chemical engineer and works on natural gas pipelines in Michigan. His company announced that it will be laying off people, and we are unsure yet if he will be layed off. We both thought it might be a good idea in the current job market, to take the patent bar before law school and become a patent agent this year, if he is out of work. Is this a wasted endeavor? How is the market for patent agents currently? In Michigan? My husband has degrees in both chemical engineering and materials science. Are these good backgrounds for a patent agent?
