First off I believe there is no problem in trademarking a geographic location, such as Philadelphia for cream cheese. However if I am another cream cheese maker and located in Philapelphia, does the owner of the trademark have any right to stop me from making cream cheese and marking my product with "Made in Philadephia". : Any comments anyone? Dear Mr. Hutz, Whether your like it or not, if the law was as simple as a sentence or two there would be no need for lawyers. You start with a misconception. You have to know what you are doing. There is "geographic" and "geographic misdescriptive". The is secondary meaning and unfair competition. The there is "Paris", geographic? Now to keep out of trouble you need the advise of an experienced trademark professional you can trust. M. Arthur Auslander
