: : : : am I correct in assuming that, if this application becomes a registered mark, it will only protect the use of the logo, and not the use of the word itself? : : if so, is my next course of action to file another application for the wordmark only? : : I'm new at this, so I'm a bit fuzzy on such specifics. : : thanks, : : Allen Boudreaux : Dear Mr. Boudreaux, : You are so new at this that you don't realize that lawyer are to clients like women are to men. : If you really want to do it yourself, you might get more information by clicking on the Trademark Page of this forum. : Once you find it you have to understand it. Make a mistake and it costs. : Notice, Early Legal Advice Is Not Expensive. : You can buy Gray's Anatomy and take care of your health too. : I sympathize with a desire to save money but I would not walk in an unknown Jungle without a guide. : M. Arthur Auslander Dear Mr. Auslander, Thank you for your elucidation, but as a fellow attorney, I realize the utility of lawyers. I appreciate on a deep level your smug attitude. You might even say I can identify, to a certain extent. However, I find your condesension rude, and your use/abuse of what masquerades as a forum for the exchange of information and expertise as a crude advertising tool. You must admit that there are similarities between this method and the practices of those attorneys who give our profession a bad reputation by listening to police scanners and chasing ambulances. As to my question, I will go elsewhere for real advice. As a young attorney and admittedly inexperienced, I had hoped for some useful pointers in my first practical experience with Tradmark registration (on a mark of my own, to first learn the ropes without injuring a client's interests...) but alas, I have looked in the wrong place. No need to reply, I won't be visiting your "forum" again. Good luck with your practice, sir. Allen Boudreaux, J.D.
