CoName). The name I was going to use is trademarked by a company manufacturing environmental products. Can two companies hold the same trademark in such a case? : If I buy a domain name (CoName.Com) with full intention of starting an online business, could this get me in trouble with the existing trademark holder (manufacturer). : Thanks Dear Mr. Sheperd, We recommend starting with a domaine name check followed by a trademark search. This helps avoid a double whammy of confusion between a domain name and a trademark. Two idential trademarks and live side by side for different goods or services. There are risks and legal questions to be answered by an exact examination of law and fact. The last thing anybody needs is to start a business with a legal problem, whether you are rich or poor. Buy a domain name that conflicts with a trademark is asking for trouble. Once you know what you have and what you want it is easier to stay clear of legal problems. If this were a medicine the said watch out for the after effects would you take it without advice as to what might happen to you? M. Arthur Auslander
