From what I can tell, you have a good chance of using the logo for your bar.

However, I would caution you to make sure that the logo has legally been "abandoned" (i.e. NOONE has used the logo or something similar to it in the 25 year interim). Also be careful if the name of your bar could somehow be confused with the university who originally owned the trademark. For example, it wouldnt be wise to call your bar "The Princeton ______ (enter your logo here) Bar and Grill".

Finally, check with a trademark lawyer for a more exact assessment of your situation.

: Say a University with an identity crisis abandoned a logo 25 years ago. They do not seem (at least as far as I can tell) to have trademarked this logo. They are now 4 logos and a quarter of a century later and not looking back. Now say a bored graduate of the University wants to open a bar with the school's old logo as its own and Trademark it. Is this possible? The logo was only used for a few years by the athletic program, and the bar would not use the University's name. The logo is pretty vague.
