As your question implies, you are aware of the human propensity for knocking off good ideas if they are not protected. I have seen this happen several times and have had others attempt to knock off my unique ideas.

Accordingly, I would recommend that you file an ITU application to establish your rights before displaying your idea on the internet for everyone to see.
