Try and get some law firm experience so that you have a better idea of what IP law is. Go to martindalehubbel.com and search for IP law firms in your area and apply. You want to look under patent prosecution or IP litigation. You will increase your chances of entering the IP world if you pass the patent bar, but you may later realize that patent law isn't what you want to do with your life.
