If I stick around as a patent agent, grab experience, then go for law school. Either way, you can go wrong. : : Hi: : : My wife is looking for a career change from software development (she also has M.S. in PHysics). She is interested in being a patent agent. What are the prospects for such a person if she passes the patent agent exam. : : Thanks : patentagent, I'm was in a similar situation. After talking to a bunch of people I determined that it was in my best interest to take the patent bar exam and go to law school. A patent agent may make decent money, BUT as a patent attorney you can do almost the exact same work and earn much greater compensation (if you have a law degree). Plus, there are a number of decent law schools that offer evening law programs so your wife could gain experience as a patent agent while attending law school.
