Nick: Your best bet is to start with a resume that attest to all of these things and hit the pavement, handing out copies to just about every IP/Patent law firm that you can think of. Don't stop their: use every web based job finding engine available: monster, hotjobs, etc. Peruse the IP law websites. Find someone who can take you under their wing to teach you this stuff. If necessary, undercut your asking salary to at least get a foot in the door. Try this if your initial search doesn't do anything. As far as the market is concerned, quite frankly, it is a little on the slim side. O.k How do I know this (and I haven't take the Oct exam either!). A friend of mine who became a Pat Atty a few years ago got shut out of his job in Central CA a few months ago. He managed to get a job out here in the Central Coast by a slim margin a few weeks after. He's been my advisor on all of this patent career stuff. FWIW. Cal.
