: Define what you mean by "considered"? Evaluated? Searched? Examined? I am not sure what question you are asking.

: What do you mean by "expensive"? $10? $100? $1000? 10,000? "Expensive" means different things to different people.

: If by "considered" you mean by one of those "invention brokers" - save your money. For $895, they will send you a bogus search report and a bunch of boilerplate about some related industry (usually stuff they pull off the web). Then they try to get you to sign up for $5000 to $20,000 of their "promotion services" (paid up-front, of course!).

: If you mean a Patent Search, there are many firms that can do a search for $300 to $1000. If this seems like a lot of money to you, then put your dough in the bank. Patent Fees alone (filing and issue) will top $1000 (and are supposed to go up dramatically soon!). So if this seems like "a lot of money" then we don't even need to talk about attorney's fees.

: A competent Patent Attorney should be able to draft a Patent Application for you for anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000, depending upon the complexity of the invention and the size of the Patent firm. Overall prosecution costs can run anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 and up (and up and up).

: For an invention worth potentially millions of dollars, this is not a lot of money, really.

: But, based upon the success rate of most inventors, I would advise putting your money in the bank (or even in a slot machine!) before "investing" in a Patent. Developing an invention takes a lot of hard work, time, effort, and money. There is no easy fast money in inventions.
