Need advice for job in chemical ip law[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Patent Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by A on January 05, 2002 at 09:15:18: I am looking for a job in ip law in the Boston area. I have a PhD in chemistry with an extensive background in synthetic (organic and inorganic) and materials chemistry. I have worked for 1.5 yrs in a foreign national lab, two yrs as a post-doctoral researcher at MIT and nearly two years in my current position in industry. I have recently passed the Oct patent bar (via home study) and have begun to assist our in-house council on a part-time basis. I really enjoy ip law and want to find a place where I can learn it full-time. Should I go through a search firm or apply directly on my own? I have heard many horror stories about search firms thus I am apprehensive about going this route. I am willing to work at any firm or company which will give me a start in the field, pay a reasonable salary and give me the opportunity to attend evening law school. Where do I have a better chance to land a job: company ip dept or ip law firm? Please help! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! A
