Did you sign an agreement when you started employment saying they owned anything you developed on their time? Best advice I can give is go see a competent intellectual property lawyer. Contact your local Bar association for a recommendation if you do not know one. : I am an engineer, no longer employed by a company which has contacted me demanding I assign all rights/power of attorney back to them regarding a patent which I was jointly granted during my employment. Must I assign these rights? The patent has indications of becoming extremely lucrative and I wish to be compensated prior to my assignment. What are my rights?
