I'm an engineer with 3 yrs. experience. I just finished my 1st yr. of a 4 yr. evening law program. I was reluctant to quit my engineering job for law school so I entered a local evening program at private school (3rd tier) with a $$$ tuition. My grades are not where they should be. I have some serious adjusting to do, no doubt, but I'm afraid at best I'll finish somewhere in the middle of my class. Patent law is my goal, grades allowing, but it looks very difficult to find jobs unless you are at the top of your class. I would like to go to school full time and graduate sooner, but I'm reluctant to accumulate so much debt. Any advice with this? I often hear, "get out of school ASAP--you'll find a good job somewhere- engineers w/ law degrees are rare and its likely you'll find a good salary", but I also hear, "unless your at the top, don't bet on it--keep working and avoid the debt". Any advice here?
Thanks,
Norm
