A patent search can determine if something has been patented. One can get a patent without a patent lawyer. Patent lawyers exist. I am one. A patent lawyer may be found in the Yellow pages, usually under "Patent Attorneys & Agents. Agents are non lawyers with technical qualifications who have also passed the examination to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office. To be certain that your have a legitimate practitioner you must check with the Patent and Trademark Office 17033089000.
Ascertaining whether or not a product is viable can be very difficult. There are scams that advertize and promise inventors the world. It took decades to put one of them out of business. One that was put out of business had 30,000 clients, only three of whom made more than they paid.
It often takes more than even a good patent to be able to make money.
This office is known as ELAINE'S Workshop. Early Legal Advice Is Not Expensive. We do a "Reality Check", first. In many instances where obtaining a patent is likely, there are obvious difficulties which may make it prudent not to even apply.
We charge for the "Reality Check" but give a credit for the charge if a patent search is conducted. We consider the realities beyond just a patent.
