You need to register it to the PTO, however. If this was a BMX bike contest, you should find out what document(s) the contestants signed. There may be a clause allowing publication of the contestants. Or, you could contact the organizers and get their permission--in writing, of course. : Dear 36071A, : I can't write a treatise here. You ought to have a copyright notice on the video and register it. The nature of what you say suggests that the photoinclusion of an event of a trademark is not a trademark infringement.
