band t-shirt[ Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Copyright Forum ] [ FAQ ] Posted by gnznroses on April 26, 2003 at 15:06:56: i know similar questions have been asked, but i'm still not sure about this situation. i have a fansite of a particular artist and would like to make a shirt, problem is my website's name contains the name of the artist's stage name. i checked and it was trademarked, but it shows that the trademark has since been cancelled. he is still performing under that name, tho the latest cd was released under a different name which is not copyrighted. so could i create and sell this shirt? what about putting the name of the cd on there; the name of it is not trademarked either. if the answer to this is no, just putting the name on there, what about putting it as the url to my website, afterall i don't think there's a lwa against using a url that contains a trademarked name in it.
