I do have question from an earlier post: posted by Joe Pesce on March 14, 2001 at 13:53:42: : For my high school business management course, I need to know what is meant by "poor man's copyright?" Can anyone help me? : Thanks very much Dear Joe Pesce, Under the old law some people would send their works to themselves, as a record of what they created. That was a poor mans copoyright as I understand it. It was almost universally worthless. The registation fee then as I recollet was $6. There would have been more value sending it to a trusted stanger. Even today at a $30 Official Fee it is better to know what you are doing and register. Under the present law, the work is covered by the creation. It is not enforceable until registered. M. Arthur Auslander ------------------------ Something I don't understand is if the poor mans copyright is useless, what makes a song covered by creation any more protected? What proof of this creation shows who the owner/writer is? One more question. Thanks again, Mr. Auslander, and a thanks in advance.
