A list of trivia as included in a game (e.g., "Trivial Pursuit") or a book (e.g., an almanac or encyclopedia)
can be protected under the copyright laws as an original COMPILATION or material.

While the idea of a trivia game or "book of lists" devoted to a particular subject (like game shows or popular music) cannot be protected . . . the sweat equity it takes to put such a COMPILATION together and to promote their efforts can be protected.

For newcomers to the field, the original and best source for the material should always be consulted, rather than merely copying the work done before.

If you were to make up a new trivia game, you could probably use similar trivia questions, (provided that you researched and created your own compilation of material - but you definitely
cannot merely copy someone else's questions.

I hope this helps.
