: Dear Sir,

: My husband and I are in the planning stages of
: building a board game(s) aimed at the primary
: educational audience (grades 1-6). We need some
: information to protect ourselves. The plan is to
: get the proper legal protections in place
: (i.e. trademarks, patents, copywrights) so when we
: develop and preview our game, we are protected. This
: idea can be expanded upon for areas of education, and
: we believe with the proper protections in place for
: the original game, follow-up games can be developed
: safely without much fear of plagarism without means
: of reprisal.
: Are we correct?

Dear Carra,

It looks as if you have a heads up way of doing what you want to do in the right way.

Copyright, trademark and even patents may interwork, if properly used and understood to acheive your goals.
