The story in question uses characters from a related book or books but the story is original and use of the characters in question are from their respective companies and marked as such. Dear Jerry Smith, The Question is a bit vague. Without research and without taking any professional responsibility, you own what you create. Using it is another thing. I think that taking characther created by others, in a book for instance can be done. That does not include Mickey Mouse type characters. There are risks under the law of unfair competition. M.
