Arthur Auslander on November 18, 2000 at 03:41:51: Sorry for the vauge question, I just didn't want to get myself in any sort of trouble. The situation: The past couple of years I've been writing or adding to a story/timeline of mine. This story was based around characters of a well known series of books, though no attempt was made to disguise them and it's obvious that the characters in question belong to their respectful owners. I had designed basicly a new story to go with them (hence the Fanfic nature of this) and credit was given to the companies involved. I had recently turned this storyline into a chatroom where one could role play, chat and discuss my idea and setting. Recently the owners of the chatsite where the chatroom is have stated that I have no rights to my creation whatso ever and I cannot close the room even if I wanted to. I opened the room using my storyline and now they claim I have no rights to my storyline. From my research I've noticed that while I cannot obviously copywrite the characters I apparently can copywrite my story, ideas and webpage, which is the area of contention. My story is my own correct?
