Sounds interesting.

Two questions out of curiosity:

Are Chinese clients paying comparable fees as US clients for a US national phase patent prosecution?

Do they hire US-based US patent attorneys or China-based US patent attorneys?

Patent Filing and Prosecution / microarray data
« on: 11-18-08 at 10:31 am »
Does anyone know how to deal with DNA microarray data in US patent applications?  MPEP does not say anything about that.  The data set is bulky (>2000 rows in excel) and is the result of one of the exemplary experiments, but is not material to the claims. My question is: do I need to deposit it somewhere since it is just too much to include it in the application?  Thanks.

"But you have other requirements to do as well - supply a clean sheet with the changes incorporated and detail out what you changed in the accompanying transmittal or comments section.

I believe the general way is to supply a sheet with all the text on that page, i.e. not just the paragraph being changed, and show the changes on that sheet, as well as provide a clean version with no markings."

These are not requirements for making an amendment in a U.S. national phase application (i.e. a U.S. non-provisional application filed under 35 USC 371).

37 CFR 1.121 sets forth the manner of making amendments in all U.S. non-provisional applications (i.e. applications filed under 35 USC 111(a) or 371).

I did not get what you mean by "These are not requirements for making an amendment in a U.S. national phase application (i.e. a U.S. non-provisional application filed under 35 USC 371)."

Are there specific requirements for making amendments in a US national phase application? To me, 37 CFR 1.121 is applicable to US national phase applications. thanks.

Is it basically the same as the preliminary amendmend for regular US non-provisional application? Just want to make sure that the answer is positive.

I checked the timing issue and found that three month after its filing date is the limitation for its not being disapproved.  The format issue is also expected to be the same.  Am I missing anything?

Buy and Sell / Complete PLI Home Study package for sale
« on: 03-15-08 at 09:15 pm »
Dear All,

I have the latest version of the PLI patent bar home study package available for sale (paid $2,595 for it).  I purchased the package in late December 2007, studied for approximately two months and passed the exam on the first try in February 2008. Everything is in like-new condition without any marks. The DVDs of the lectures and the study guide are extremely helpful and cover 90% everything points in the real exam. The Patware provides plenty of practice questions, at least ten of which actually appeared in the exam I took. Contact me by email gxfc6666@gmail.com. The following are included in the package I am selling:
•   Manual of Patent Examining Procedure (MPEP, Edition 8, revision 6). The current edition of USPTO rules and regulations that is the source of all Exam questions.
•   Exam-Focus Study Guide. Cross-referenced to the MPEP, it gives you Exam tips and study suggestions for every section of the MPEP tested on the Exam data on the types of questions asked and weighted coverage of material according to its importance on the Exam.
•   8 DVD and 36 CDs for all of the lectures covering the study guide.
•   PatWare Exam Preparation. This exclusive software offers an electronic copy of the MPEP and hundreds of practice questions (most drawn from previous Exams) and answers. PatWare lets you practice in all areas of the MPEP tested on the Exam (or you can focus on specific areas). You get instant feedback on answers (including full MPEP-based coverage of any question) and monitor your progress in each practice session and by MPEP chapters.
•   ClaimsLightTM. This example-packed resource gives you the building-block approach to claim drafting and correct claim recognition that you need to ace the Exam. You are no longer required to actually draft a claim, but many of the Exam questions require knowledge of proper claim drafting techniques.
•   Learn-by-Doing Exercise and Practice Exam Materials. Strengthen your grasp of material and your test-taking abilities with question / answer exercises daily practice exams and homework in-class claim drafting assignments and final practice exams.
•   Key Word Glossary. Quickly master the jargon of patent preparation and prosecution using this handy tool - exclusive to PLI’s Exam-focused Patent Bar Review.

PLI rocks. I used nothing but the PLI study guide and patware, studied at home for a bit over 1 month and passed easily this Febuary. Quite a few question are exactly from past exams. So practicing the old exams really helps. btw, still have the latest version PLI complete course material for sale. my eamil: gxfc6666@gmail.com.

I did not have any patent background when I started to prepare for the exam this past January. I used the PLI home study course. It is quite expensive costing me $2,595. But the course is very helpful. After a bit more than one month crushing it, I passed the exam very easily. By the way, I still have the used the complete course material. Drop me an email gxfc666@gmail.com if you are interested.
