IDS description for thesis/grant submissions
« on: 09-15-08 at 10:21 pm »

How much detail do you provide when submitting disclosures on the IDS form?  I have a university as a client and often have to list power point presentations, thesis, grants.

Any examples on what you write on the IDS form, e.g. thesis distributed to committee but marked confidential, not yet catalogued.  What if a grant is given to an internal committee for review to recieve critique and review for grant awards?  are these considered to be public disclosures (no confidentiality agreements are signed).  What if a talk is given but no handouts are made but there is a full disclosure of the invention so that another student or prof hearing the talk would be able to make and use the invention?

As always I appreciate the suggestions.  Thanks!!!

Guidelines are in MPEP 2128.

I think you may also find 707.05(e) to be helpful, as well:

http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/pac/mpep/documents/0700_707_05_e.htm

It's basically a guide for forming citations on non-patent literature (NPL).
