Can I include a table in the claims?

can i include a table (with columns and rows of data) into as a claim element?

for example,

A chemical compound, wherein the chemical structure relationship is as follows:

TYPE     RATIO
1          2:1
2          3:4
3          6:1

Without doing research, I would say no.

It's not that difficult to write the info you want to convey, unless you have lots and lots of ratios to convey. In that context,lots and lots of ratios, you may want to think more on how to claim so much info in a more general manner and then delve into particulars, via dependents.

Tables are permitted in claims in a US patent.  They are not common, but a few recent examples are:  US 7415889 B2, US 7416743 B2, US 7420034 B2, US 7420517 B2, US 7422420 B2, US 7422732 B2, and US 7423278 B2.  Chemical structures in the claims are relatively common.

Whether or not a presenting a table in the claim is advisable in a particular application, is a different question.
