1st Year and 2nd Year Associates

I'm a 2nd year associate in the IP group (i.e., patent group) of mid-size/large general practice law firm.  I've been drafting applications since the day I started.  But I've heard that many firms don't have associates drafting patent applications until much later in their career.  How many of you draft(ed) patent applications as a 1st or 2nd year?
