If at first you don't succeed...
« on: 04-30-08 at 06:13 pm »

I'm scheduled to take the exam for the first time in a few weeks. I don't think I'm prepared enough, but I figured if I don't set myself a deadline, I'll never get there.

My question is: How hard is it to re-take the exam? Is the application procedure the same? All the fees need to be re-paid? You need to re-apply every time?

How many times will they let you do this without asking questions like: "Do you really feel you're competent enough to practice before the PTO?"

I figure the more prepared I am to re-take the exam, the less nervous I'll be when I actually sit down to take it.

IIRC, you can keep retaking it for up to a year, then would have to reapply.  I think people have posted that there is a 30-day waiting period between retakes.

you actually have to reapply each time you want to take it though - and PAY FEES each you re-apply.  it takes a couple of weeks go get approved again (i dont believe you have to re-submit transcripts, etc but you do have to re-submit the application) and once you get the approval again it will tell you your new test window (starts from 30 days of previous test and lasts for 90 days)
