Investigation of a patent
« on: 07-24-09 at 09:26 am »

Hello, I am new to the forum, hopefully i can find some much needed help here.

Recently I came up with an idea for the medical industry. While researching prior patents related to this idea I came across a patent with a non-final rejection due to the patent being held by another person/corporation. Here lies the problem, finding the inital patent application was easy, yet I seem to have run into a brick wall when trying to find the original patent to see when it was filed and if it has expired. I've sepent several hours on the USPTO website, pulled out the filings of the reviewer on the denied patent and tried to follow their search results without any luck in finding the exact patent that prohibited them from being granted a patent. Any advice would be great.

Help! ???

Why don't you post the application and patent numbers involved?
