TURNING A REGISTERED COPYRIGHT INTO A TRADEMARK
« on: 11-27-07 at 02:52 pm »

Is it possible to have a logo that is already registerd as a copyright registed as a trademark later on if I am the only author or will their be legal problems since the logo is already registered as a copyright? I just thinking of copyrighting the image first until I get the money to do the trademark.   ???

There is nothing inconsistent with having both a copyright registration and trademark registration on a logo.  The protections afforded by each, and the requirements for each, are different but compatible.

Are you using the artwork as a trademark?

Yes I plan on using it as a trademark. I am a freelance graphic designer and I want to use the logo for my services ei.(designing logos, cd covers etc...) I want to put the logo on my webpage and business card.  I also draw comics so I want to use the logo for my comics as well.  I would also like to use the logo for doing custom clothing. basically I want to use the mark for a variety of different things.
