Try a company called, IP-Central.  They're East Coast based but do training for both US and PCT/Foreign patent prosecution all over the country.

I heard through the grapevine that they're branching out internationally and are teaching abroad too.

I haven't seen their 2007 schedule yet, but I think they'll be posting it soon.

I can't post the website in my reply but if you the URL is the company's name.

Hi,  There are manuals that will teach you how to perform patent prosecution task, but there is no actual school that will teach you all you need to know.  Right now, I am located in Philadelphia, there are no schools.  They will give you a general overview.

I am a patent secretary with 7 years experience and I have created a patent training manual for $250.00 That will give you the basic steps, as a secretary to perform patent secrtary task.

Also, there are more involved programs that might have CD's like the AIPLA.  If you are interested in my manual please let me know.  Otherwise go to the AIPLA website and give them a call if you don't see what you need.  I am sure they can lead you in the right direction. thansk.

IPlegalEd, the on-line course seems to be the only really complete course available for training patent paralegals in US and international patent administration.  It's a long course, but really complete and up to date.  Much better than the live seminars that do not have the time to give any more than a refresher.  I used IPlegalEd and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants serious patent training.

Does anyone know of a distance learning paralegal option that offers college credits?

I agree with the person above. For patent paralegal training I would highly recommend the IPlegalEd on-line course (www.IPlegalEd.com). Completely thorough and really up to date. Great quizzes and unlimited support by email. I took it. It was long and sometimes difficult, but well worth it. - Claire.

There is a book by David Pressman that is very highly read (over 300,000 copies sold) called "Patent It Yourself" which nicely explains
the fundamentals of patents, which may be useful as well.
