Law schools

Hello everybody,

My name is Abram and I have recently become interested in patent law.  I am currently concerned right now with obtaining my electrical engineering degree.  But in my spare time I like learning more about patent law.

I was wondering if anyone knows of top patent law school rankings in the Midwest.  Also, is it better (from obtaining a job point of view) to get a degree at a famous law school that doesn't specialize in patent law or a less prestigious school that is more committed to patent law?

thanks

Go to Boalt Hall!  U.C. Berkeley... It's both!  (go bears!)

In direct answer to your question, I'd pick the top school, period.  Only if that fails, go to a school with a good IP reputation but without the top reputation generally.

Bear in mind, this is one person's opinion.  My belief is that the best way (easiest at least) to get into patent law is to be hired by a big firm.  They have the resources and the willingness to train new law school grads.  And, they seem to care about school rep's generally.

I hope that helps.

Regards.
