Quick question re: diagram fonts
« on: 03-11-07 at 08:07 pm »

Anyone know what the common font is for the figure numbers and elements numbers in patent diagrams?  I can't find any standard fonts that match what I see in most traditional patent diagrams.  The closest I've come is Arial Narrow Italic for the element numbers, and Arial Rounded MT Bold for the figure numbers (e.g., "FIG. 2").  But these aren't exact matches.

Thanks.

There aren't any specific font requirements except that the character have to be a certain height.

I use Arial Narrow (12pt) for normal text (in boxes and for reference numerals) and Arial Narrow (24pt bold) for "FIGURE 1".  I use all caps.

That seems to be very readable and to allow for a reasonable amount of text to fit in relatively tight places.  You really don't need "exact matches".

Regards.
