clothing line issues...logo/tags...etc
« on: 12-02-06 at 09:08 pm »

well, i have another question.....

i know that most clothing lines start up by printing on t-shirts made by gildan/etc since they are plain shirts...... i heard that it is legal to take off their tag and place your tag/logo on the shirt and print what ever you print....... so then that piece then becomes your product.... am i right... is there any legal issues with taking the logo tag off and using yours?....

i also found other plain clothing items that  i want to add to the clothing line to help get the company off the ground..... in all respect of both companies, is just removing the tag of the original and replacing with mine legal.....

thanks

I'm not sure if I understand the scenario completely, but to the extent you'd be buying a "Brand X" product and relabeling it as your own brand, some courts have found that to violate trademark law.

well,

i buy a plain t-shirt..... put my logo/graphic/etc on it and then   sell the shirt in my  t-shirt line......

so basically i bought the product...i.e. t-shirt...then i utilize it for my needs..... since i already gave my money to brand x and bought the shirt, they should be fine.... i'm not trying to slap a graphic and resell it as brand x......

i know you can order shirts with your tag/etc on the shirt but  who makes those shirts...... i'm sure there's some companies that buy the same t-shirts but use different tags... i.e. 100% cotton/etc.....

thanks
