Car Club Name

Is there a way to patten or copyright a name of a car club if so please explain. Also please explain the diffrence between a patten and a copyright. Your help is greatly appreciated.

You want a trademark (more specifically, a servicemark).

Patents protect a new and non-obvious technical invention.

Copyrights protect against copying of literary, artistic works.

Trademarks protect exclusive use of names of products and services.

There's a different forum for trademarks.

Dear Yvonne,

A trademark, actually a service mark can protect the name of a club, if the club otherwise qualifies for the registration of the mark.

what do i have to do to register my car club name so no one can use are name or letters from our shirts or plaques?
