Many people have said Chapter 1800 (Patent Cooperation Treaty) is heavily tested on the exam. I have been unable to find any study information about this chapter. I tried to read the whole thing, but that does not seem to have been very helpful. From what I can tell, you need to know the following:

There are differences between what you file pre- and post- January 1, 2004
USPTO acts as a RO for US residents and nationals (the filing must be in English)
USPTO will forward applications on to the IB in cases where the application is not in English or it is filed by a non-US resident/national

What else do you need to know about this chapter? Does anyone know what the questions on the exam are like?

Thanks!

Right concept but wrong date  Smiley  11/29/00 is what you were looking for.  Know what the 102(e) dates are under different circumstances...and honestly the diagrams in chapter 700 can help you with that tremendously.  Know when you can ammend and what you can ammend (article 19 vs the other one).  Know what happens if you don't submit an abstract (they write one for you) and what you can do about it.  Know how long you have to add priority if you forgot to.  Geez what else...Chapter II demand of preliminary examination probably.

Go look through the list on patentbarquestions.com to get a good sense of PCT questions.  I don't think I had more than 1 or 2 that were outside of the concepts described on that site.  I had a total of maybe 8 or 9 on my exam 2 weeks ago.

Someone mentioned an "Australia" fact pattern on one of the forums; I don't know the specifics, only that a couple Australian citizens file an application at the USPTO.

I assume it is in English (since that is the primary language of Australia). Is the correct answer that the USPTO will forward this on to the IB because of the citizenship issue? Has anyone else seen this question?

Someone said this was similar to the "Mexican Nationals" question, but I haven't been able to find a clear answer to that one either.

Does anyone know how long it will take the PTO to get back to you after you send in your application to take the exam for Category A? I read it's usually 2 weeks but have seen other posts saying it could be 4 or more? Thanks.

3-4 would be a reasonable expectation.
