I am trying to resurrect a jacket design that was popular in the 1980s.  The corporation that sold the jacket no longer exists, and the trademark is dead.  I intend to apply for the mark, then pitch the same design to new clothing companies in hopes of licensing the trademark.  Should I worry about problems from the original owners relating to the design and/or mark?  If so, what could I expect?
