Is my domain name in violation?
« on: 07-08-06 at 03:43 am »

Hello,

I have recently acquired a domain name www.someinfo.com and wish to use it.

I recently found out that there is one more site www.someinformation.com which is into e-commerce activities like selling some products online.

They have also registered a trademark with the name "Some Information" which I found out by doing a search for Trademarks at www.uspto.gov

Is there any chance that they could sue us for using an abbrievated version of their domain name.

The above mentioned names are fictitious, but you can consider the above example because its very similar to my domain name. And the domain name contains generic words like mentioned above.

Any  feedback would be appreciated.

If your use of your domain is such that it is likely to cause confusion in the marketplace between you and the other entity, then your use might be infringing.
