I bought a copy and although I do think it is helpful as a down to earth guide (read as no legal footnotes) to writing an application especially for a beginner, I think it is out of touch with patent prosecution today.

For instance, it does not address drafting anything post filing since your goal should be to get the case allowed as filed.

The searching chapter is outdated and in need of a major ovehaul.  Foreign rights are barely discussed.  It has a mechanical slant and many techniques suggested are not as helpful for other areas such as software.

The author also doesn't seem to know his audience.  While he belives that most big law firms don't train younger attorneys and hence need his book, he goes on to discuss many techniques that are better suited for the solo practicioner or a small firm.

In addition, there are some grammatical errors.  Clearly, the work is his and has not been through a normal editing process.

I like the idea of the book but there needs to be much more of polish made to it.
