Intellectual Property Asset Management

With IP awareness growing leaps and bounds, every firm has started realizing the importance of managing the IP they possess. Further, there is a realization that intangible assets like IP can play a major role in the business development strategy of any firm.

For managing the IP portfolio of companies, professionals require an awareness of IP, IP laws, IP search techniques, sound technical expertise, and an understanding of business.

Studies such as white space analysis, landscape searching, state-of-the-art analysis, etc. will provide strong ground for the identification of where to invest in, which areas are strongly patented, what are the strong needs and haves of competitors, technical areas untouched (little or no patents) and other such useful information.

What kind of jobs are there in this area? What kind of qualification/experieence would be required?

More thoughts later.
