Is it considered a professional license?
« on: 09-08-05 at 11:29 pm »

Quick question: I am a 1L. I took the patent bar and passed it over the summer. Right now I am filling out the declaration of intent to practice law form. One of the questions is during the past 10 years, have you ever applied for any professional or occupational license. So I am wondering if passing the patent bar exam means I have applied for a professional/occupational license. Also if it does count as a license, does it mean that we are licensed as soon as we pass the exam or do we have to wait until the USPTO actually gives us a license? Can anyone help? All responses will be appreciated.

IMO you should disclose the application to take the patent bar in response to the question you posted.  I think the intent of the question is to look for situations when your moral character and background have been looked into.

You are not licensed until the PTO says you are, but most likely that will be real soon.
