Business card and letterhead question
« on: 09-08-05 at 10:31 pm »

Having passed the patent bar recently, and now (finally!) being a bona fide patent agent, I need to redo my business card.  Now, instead of just saying technical writer, it will say technical writer and patent agent.  Question:  Does one traditionally put one's USPTO registration number on the business card, and for that matter on one's letterhead as well?

Thanks in advance for all replies.

My response leads me to a follow up question though, I have seen it said different ways, so what is people's input on the correct way for an announcement:

I am licensed to practice before the Office of Patents and Trademarks;

I am licensed to practice before the Board of Patents and Trademarks;

I am licensed to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office;

I am licensed to practice in the U.S. Patenet & Trademark Office;

any others...???

I'd use "registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office".

And yeah, leave your registration number off of everything except the required places on correspondence with the USPTO.   Your registration number is too shiny, new (and bigggg) to be using to impress people with anyhow!
