delays in filing DMCA agent
« on: 02-22-12 at 03:40 pm »

I am trying to register a DMCA agent for a website.  I submitted the paperwork in mid October.  The check was cashed November 15.  It's now February 22 - four months after submitting - and the agent information is still not posted on the copyright office website.

Phone calls to the copyright office result in long delays on hold, and then the useless information that they are running behind, and they can't say when the agent information will be posted.

Has anyone else had any experience with this process?  Any idea how long the process takes?

(The irritating thing is that a competent programmer could automated this entire process with a few hours work.)

Agent info was finally posted on the copyright office website, about a week ago, almost 6 months after we submitted the paperwork.  And of course, we didn't get any notification - we've just been checking regularly.  I don't know why this bothers me so much, but it's astounding to me that a government agency can do such a  terrible job with such a simple task.
