Transferring copyright ownership (video)
« on: 02-02-12 at 05:45 am »

I have multiple people creating videos for YouTube for my company, but it's their policy that you own the copyright to the material being posted. So far I haven't had anything signed, so I guess I need to? What's the minimum paperwork required to transfer ownership of a video?

At the most simple level, an assignment would suffice.

Also, in future you should have a properly drafted "work for hire" agreement with the contractors who are producing the videos.  You as the customer would then own the copyrights for the videos produced as work for hire.

An "assignment", in the sense I used it, is a written document that transfers rights in a copyright from one party to another.
