I remember hearing this quote, or something very close to it, in law school. It would make my case if I could find it now. Has anyone heard this quote before from Learned Hand? If so do you know the cite?

My Friend Google has not helped me.

I think the quote you are looking for is paraphrasing the following quote by Hand:

"Words are chameleons, which reflect the colour of their environment."  Learned Hand 1872-1961: In commissioner v. National Carbide Corp. (1948)
