file assignment
« on: 01-03-12 at 09:28 pm »

Hi Everybody,

I filed two assignments online last month.  I had the same problems with both of those two assignments; the name of last assignor did not appear on the receipts.  I called the assignment division,  one representative insisted that I did not input the name of the last assignor, the other representative explained that I didn't click "add" button.  I checked the page "to add a name of an assignor" at the filing website, I found there are only two buttons, one button"add," the other button "add and go to next screen."  So looks like no way that I can miss "add" button because either of those two buttons has the function "add." Also, because I filed two assignments on the same day.  When I noticed the name of the last assignor was missed in my first filling.  I particularly paid attention to make sure that I typed names of all assignors in second filing.  So there was no way that I could miss name of the last assignor on both of the two filings.

Also, I had filed other assignments before the last month and I did not encounter the problem I had last month.

Representatives from the assignment division told me, if I want to add the name of the missing assignor to the cover sheet or on the website, I have to pay another fee.

$40*2 are not much.  Just don't feel like paying because I clearly remember I input the names of the assignors.

Also, I have filed the  assignment agreement that had names of all assignors.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem?  Is there a way to ask assignment division to correct the mistake without paying the fees .  Or I can just leave it as it is because the filed assignment agreement has the names of all assignors, although one assignor did not appear on the website of USPTO.

Thank you very much for your help!!!
