mixing songs

i wanted to remix some songs and publish them for the public

when i say remix, i mean speeding the tempo and adding some extra beats etc

is this illegal??

Dear ibzi dedon,

Illegal usually means to me, criminal. There are criminal aspects to the copyright law.

What you propose does not sound, "illegal" but unless you have right to the music you are going to use, you are very likely to infringe copyrights.

Try ASCAP, BMI, and SECAC for guidance as to what you can do.
