I need some legal advice regarding intellectual property rights. I have recently started my own advertising agency need for advice regarding the ability to show work I've done for a past employer in my portfolio of work. This morning I received a certified mail from my last employer that included a 'cease and desist' letter and a copy of my Non-disclosure agreement. Although my employment with this firm is considered work-for-hire and the non-disclosure states that I may not disclose any work I've done while employed there, it is imperative that I have the ability to show this work in my personal and company portfolio. As a graphic designer, it is imperative to be able to show any work you've completed over the past 2 years in order to gain employment or contract work in the field.

In the interim, I have taken all materials connected to this firm off of my materials. However, I need to know what avenues are available to me (if any) that may permit me to present such work for the purposes of continuing my career.

Each situation must be idifvdually considered in order to be able to work in comfort free of legal threat. From what you say the solution does not seem complex
