Registering using a band or production name.
« on: 11-25-11 at 01:55 pm »

I would like to copyright materials using a made-up production company name, "Waiting For Lunch", that I have informally used since 1996.  In other cases, I would like to copyright materials using my band name, "Zelda and the Unibrows".  But legally, I would like both of those names to equate to me, "Joseph C. Krause".  Is the proper path to register in my county as an LLC or DBA under both of those names?

I registered "Waiting For Lunch" years ago as a DBA at my old address, but I allowed it to expire, fearing tax issues, as the county wanted me to report the cash that my "business" was making, and as these aren't really businesses, they make $0-300 per year.  It also seems strange that I would have to continue to register as a business every so many years when a copyright is for life and then some.  So what is the better way to do this?
