I have received a certified letter from a P.C. lawyer. One of the expectations from the trademark holder is that I use the R symbol after their trademark name. I have no problem putting an R symbol and using their disclaimer, but do I have to put the R symbol after every instance of the word on the page (some pages have the word nearly 100 times on a long page). It looks terrible to have the R symbol everywhere. It is my understanding that you only have to use the R symbol after the first instance of use.

Any light on this issue?

Thank you.

If it's their trademark, and they're placing conditions upon its use, then you have to follow their conditions or face whatever consequences might stem from a non-consensual use of their trademarks.

In general, there are certain reasons why not allowing your mark to be used in any way without an accompanying trademark notice might be preferable.  Look up 15 USC § 1111 if you'd like to know the reasoning behind it.  At least they're not requiring you to include "Registered in U.S. Patent and Trademark Office" alongside every use of their mark.
