Recording an Assignment of a PCT Application
« on: 11-01-11 at 05:20 pm »

I just filed a PCT application that claims priority to a U.S. application. We will probably enter the national stage in Europe. Is there any advantage to recording the assignment of rights to the PCT application with the USPTO or do I just wait until I enter the national stage in other countries to record the assignment there?

Thanks, Alan

Yes, record now and use a notarized form of an assignment.  Many countries will allow you to use a certified copy or a notarized copy of the US assignment in their respective jurisdiction.

Thanks Bleeding Pen. I did not consider that some jurisdictions require the document be notarized.
