Best DC biotech patent firm?
« on: 10-09-11 at 09:33 am »

Experience patent associate moving to dc next year looking for advice as to which dc patent firms I should consider targeting for a job.  5+ yeasts experience, biotech focus, litigation and patent prosecution experience with phd in biology.  Any advice/insight is greatly appreciated.

Have heard finnegan and sterne are good ip boutiques for biotech.  Any others?  What about gp firms with a good biotech practice in dc?

Thanks in advance!

Some gp firms with a good biotech presence are Ladas & Parry and Morrison & Foerster. A smaller firm with a very good biotech sector is Hoffmann & Baron in NY/NJ.

Are there any DC firms that are looking for green associates with little to no experience?

Sterne Kessler and Finnegan are both good.  Both have dedicated biotech practices.  Of the two, Finnegan is much larger.  Their DC office has ~250 attorneys and 300-350 support staff.

Knobbe Martens has a solid biotech practice as well, but most of their biotech attorneys are on the west coast.
